About this painting

If you've ever lived in the western United States, the prickly pear cactus will be a familiar site. They grow with abundance in the dry hot climate. They love the heat of the sun and are full of spiny needles that catch on your clothes or skin if you brush against them. But every so often they are covered in profuse blooms that pop out along the edges seemingly in contrast to the needles they are covered by.
